The origins of HOLYCIDE can be found back in 2004 before the new wave of Thrash Metal exploded massively when Dave Rotten (AVULSED) wanted to start up a Thrash Metal project for what he joined Vicente from GOLGOTHA on guitars. The intention, from the very beginning, was to create a very aggressive kind of Thrash, exempt of commercial touches and focusing on the intense side of this kind of music.

However, due to the lack of commitment of Vicente, years were passing on and nothing really came out of it until in 2009 a replacement for Vicente was found in Ricardo Moreno, a friend who was live session guitarist for AVULSED during some shows and a full European tour during that year. Ricardo proved to be a good choice and everything went well, even two demo songs were written and recorded in 2010, but from one day to another, Ricardo suddenly decided to quit after summer of the same year because he wanted to concentrate on a new solo project that needed all his time and dedication.


So again, HOLYCIDE was on hibernation process until in spring 2012, a new guitarist called Miguel Bárez joined the project. Miguel was also live session guitarist for AVULSED, but at the time he was still running his main band INNTRANCE. Songs were being slowly written until in summer 2013, Miguel asked bass player Daniel Fernández to join the project. Dani was long time friend of Miguel, who played in INNTRANCE some years before ('06-'10) as well as in DARK MOOR ('04-'08 & actually) and was currently playing in VIOLENT EVE although he also left that band a couple of months later due to personal reasons.

The incorporation of Dani was what definitely gave fresh motivation to HOLYCIDE and he helped to finalize the three songs already written plus two new ones. A total of 5 songs that were destined to become the first demo of the band. The intention was always to keep this as a project band using programmed drumming so the 5 songs were roughly recorded like this during autumn 2013, adding vocals to two of them in December of the same year.

Already in January 2014 we did our first rehearsal as a trio and it went really good, but some weeks later, Miguel suggested the idea of adding two new members into HOLYCIDE and making it a full band with Jorge Utrera (drums) and Salva Esteban (guitar), so in March, the very first official rehearsal of HOLYCIDE took place!! Incredible!! It took 10 years to achieve this point, something we never really wanted to go beyond than a simple project to have fun playing Thrash, now was a full band!!

So now the perspective of HOLYCIDE changed drastically and we decided to keep the two recorded songs with vocals, as the first band's demo releasing it only on cassette format just for ourselves (only 5 copies made, haha!) and then re-recording all 5 songs with the full line-up for an EP. This EP in form of a 6-song mini CD & cassette entitled "Toxic Mutation", was recorded during the second half of 2014 and release through Xtreem Music in February 2015.

Between 2015 and first half of 2016, HOLYCIDE played some local shows and wrote 9 new songs and a cover of DÉTENTE for their debut full length album "Annihilate… Then Ask!" that was finally recorded during summer 2016 and released on CD, 12"LP and Cassette formats through Xtreem Music in February 2017.

HOLYCIDE was busy playing across Spain (and one show in Italy) during 2017-2019 presenting their new album, sharing stage with bands like FLOTSAM AND JETSAM, ONSLAUGHT, D.R.I., HELSTAR, EXUMER, TRALLERY, ASOMVEL, NO RETURN, GOD DETHRONED, ALKOHOLIZER and many others. At the same time, a new album was being writing and between April-July 2019, HOLYCIDE entered again Cadillac Blood Studios to record their 2nd full length album "Fist to Face" to be released in February 14th, 2020 through Xtreem Music (CD/12"LP/Cassette - World), MDD Rec. (CD - G/A/S) and Spiritual Beast (CD - Japan). Since the album came out coinciding with the start of the covid-19, "Fist to Face" has not been able to be presented live and it is in 2022 when HOLYCIDE intends to "relaunch" said work.

In August 2022, the first line-up change in HOLYCIDE takes place with the departure of Dani Fernández for family reasons, and in his place Vicente J. Payá (UNBOUNDED TERROR, GOLGOTHA, DECRAPTED, BIS NTE, etc…) enters, who from in fact, together with Dave Rotten, both formed HOLYCIDE back in 2004, with which the circle is closed, and everything stays at home!! This will also mean a new stage in the band, since Dani was the main composer, and now this task will be divided between the two guitarists Miguel Bárez and Salva Esteban, as well as Vicente J. Payá, who will contribute new ideas for the composition of the 3rd album that will take place during the first half of 2023.

Los orígenes de HOLYCIDE pueden encontrarse allá por 2004 antes de que la nueva oleada de Thrash Metal explotase de forma masiva cuando Dave Rotten (AVULSED) quiso comenzar un proyecto de Thrash Metal para lo cual se juntó con Vicente de GOLGOTHA a la guitarra. La intención, desde el principio, fue la de crear una forma muy agresiva de Thrash, exenta de toques comerciales y centrándose en el lado intenso de este tipo de música.

De todos modos, debido a la falta de compromiso de Vicente, los años fueron pasando y no surgió nada de ahí hasta que en 2009 se encontró un reemplazo para Vicente en Ricardo Moreno, un amigo que fue guitarra de sesión en directo para AVULSED durante algunos shows y un completo tour europeo durante ese mismo año. Ricardo demostró ser una buena elección y todo iba bien, incluso se escribieron y grabaron dos temas en 2010, pero de la noche a la mañana, Ricardo de repente decidió abandonar tras el verano del mismo año ya que quería dedicarse en un nuevo proyecto en solitario que necesitaba todo su tiempo y dedicación.

Así que, de nuevo, HOLYCIDE entró en un proceso de hibernación hasta que, en primavera de 2012, un nuevo guitarrista llamado Miguel Bárez se unió al proyecto. Miguel también fue guitarrista de sesión en directo para AVULSED y al mismo tiempo aún tocaba en su banda principal INNTRANCE. Se fueron componiendo temas lentamente hasta que en verano de 2013, Miguel pidió al bajista Daniel Fernández, unirse al proyecto. Dani es viejo amigo de Miguel quien también tocó en INNTRANCE unos años antes ('06-'10) así como en DARK MOOR ('04-08 y actualmente) y se encontraba entonces tocando en VIOLENT EVE, banda que abandonó un par de meses más tarde debido a motivos personales.


La incorporación de Dani fue lo que definitivamente dio motivación fresca a HOLICYDE y ayudó a finalizar los tres temas que ya estaban compuestos así como dos más. Un total de 5 temas que estaban destinados a convertirse en la primera demo de la banda. La intención fue siempre la de mantener esto como un proyecto usando batería programada, con lo que los 5 temas de grabaron crudamente de esta forma durante el otoño de 2013, añadiendo voces a dos de los temas en Diciembre del mismo año.

Ya en Enero de 2014 hicimos nuestro primer ensayo como trío y fue realmente bien, pero unas semanas más tarde, Miguel sugirió la idea de añadir dos nuevos miembros a HOLYCIDE convirtiéndola en una banda completa con Jorge Utrera (batería) y Salva Esteban (guitarra), así que en Marzo tuvo lugar el primer ensayo oficial de HOLYCIDE!! Increíble!! Nos llevó 10 años llegar a este punto, algo que nunca quisimos que fuera más allá de in simple proyecto para divertirnos tocando Thrash, era ahora una banda completa!!

Con esto, las perspectivas de HOLYCIDE cambiaron drásticamente y decidimos mantener los dos temas grabados con voz como la primera demo de la banda, editándola sólo en formato cassette sólo para nosotros mismos (sólo se han hecho 5 copias, jaja!!) y regrabar los 5 temas con la formación completa para un próximo EP. Este EP en forma de mini CD 6 cassette titulado "Toxic Mutation" fue grabado durante la segunda mitad de 2014 y editado en Febrero de 2015 a través de Xtreem Music.

Durante este año y la primera mitad de 2016, HOLYCIDE tocó algunos shows locales y compuso 9 temas nuevos y una versión de DÉTENTE para su álbum debut "Annihilate... Then Ask!" que fue finalmente grabado durante verano de 2016 y editado en CD, 12"LP y Cassette a través de Xtreem Music en Febrero de 2017.

HOLYCIDE estuvo ocupado tocando en toda España (y un show en Italia) durante 2017-2019, presentando su nuevo álbum, compartiendo escenario con bandas como FLOTSAM AND JETSAM, ONSLAUGHT, DRI, HELSTAR, EXUMER, TRALLERY, ASOMVEL, NO RETURN, GOD DETHRONED, ALKOHOLIZER y muchos otros. Al mismo tiempo, se estaba componiendo un nuevo álbum y, entre abril y julio de 2019, HOLYCIDE entró nuevamente en los Blood Cadillac Studios para grabar su segundo álbum completo, "Fist to Face", que salió editado en Febrero de 2020 a través de Xtreem Music (CD/12"LP/Cassette/Digital) para todo el mundo, MDD Records de Alemania para el territorio G/A/S (Germany/Austria/Switzerland) y Spiritual Beast Records en Japón. Debido a que el álbum salió coincidiendo con el inicio de la covid-19, "Fist to Face" no ha podido ser presentado en directo y es en 2022 cuando HOLYCIDE tiene intención de "relanzar" dicho trabajo.

En Agosto de 2022, se produce el primer cambio de formación en HOLYCIDE con la salida de Dani Fernández por motivos familiares, y en su lugar entra Vicente J. Payá (UNBOUNDED TERROR, GOLGOTHA, DECRAPTED, BIS·NTE, etc…) quien de hecho, junto a Dave Rotten, formaron HOLYCIDE allá por 2004, con lo que se cierra el círculo, y todo queda en casa!! Esto además significará una nueva etapa en la banda, ya que Dani era el principal compositor, y ahora dicha tarea se repartirá entre los dos guitarristas Miguel Bárez y Salva Esteban, además de Vicente J. Payá, quien aportará nuevas ideas de cara a la composición del 3er álbum que se gestará durante la primera mitad de 2023.
