the band has never taken a break, never abandoned its roots, and never
wavered in its commitment to pure, uncompromising Death Metal. Decades
of relentless activity, a formidable discography and countless live
assaults around the world have cemented AVULSED's reputation as a true
institution of extreme music.
For over three decades, AVULSED has reigned as Spain's leading Extreme
Metal band, earning international respect through sheer perseverance,
consistency and an unwavering dedication to Death Metal. Since the early
'90s, the band has unleashed seven full-length albums, numerous EPs
and demos, while bringing its brutal assault to stages across Europe,
Asia, and the Americas, as well as throughout Spain. Their relentless
live campaign has also taken them to some of the most prestigious Metal
festivals on the planet.
Now, even after more than three decades of history, AVULSED refuses
to stand still. The recent departure of some of its longest-serving
members due to a lack of motivation has brought significant changes
to the lineup, but it has done absolutely nothing to halt the band's
advance. New, highly skilled musicians have stepped in, injecting fresh
blood into the band's unrelenting engine and ensuring that AVULSED's
legacy will continue to grow through new releases and devastating live
performances. AVULSED remains alive, active, and ready to crush everything

AVULSED
began its journey in August 1991, when vocalist Dave Rotten, after completing
his three-year voluntary military service, decided to form a Death Metal
band. He recruited two friends, Tony and Lucky, and the band initially
operated as a trio before two guitarists joined in 1992.
Over the following years, AVULSED forged its own distinctive style of
Death Metal through several demos, including "Embalmed in Blood"
(1992), "Deformed Beyond Belief" (1993) and "Promo '95",
as well as the 7" EP "Carnivoracity" (1994), later reissued
as a mini-CD in 1995. Their debut full-length album, "Eminence
in Putrescence" (1996), established the band's unmistakable sound,
combining crushing brutality, heavy rhythms and melodic passages. AVULSED
also made history as one of the first Spanish Extreme Metal bands to
secure deals with foreign record labels, with two international releases
arranged as early as 1993 and published in 1994.
In 1998, AVULSED ventured into industrial territory with "Cybergore",
a remix CD that fused the sounds of the era with the band's trademark
Death Metal guitars and vocals. The result proved divisive, earning
both passionate admirers and fierce detractors. In September 1999, the
Colombian label Quirófano Productions released "Seven Years
of Decay", a compilation gathering the band's demos and rare, previously
unreleased material.
That same year, AVULSED unleashed its second album, "Stabwound
Orgasm", recorded at Spacelab Studios in Kempen, Germany, and mastered
in California by James Murphy (ex-DEATH, CANCER, TESTAMENT). Released
through Repulse Records, the album doubled the sales of its predecessor
and received licensing deals across South America, the USA, Canada and
Russia. Its international success propelled AVULSED to a new level of
recognition within the global Death Metal scene. In January 2001, the
band recorded four covers for tribute albums that never materialized.
The tracks were eventually released on the self-produced mini-CD "Bloodcovered"
(2001), limited to just 500 copies.
In August 2002, AVULSED returned to Spacelab Studios to record its third
album, "Yearning for the Grotesque". Released in February
2003 through Italy's AvantGarde Music, the album suffered numerous delays
after several CD manufacturing plants refused to reproduce its explicit
artwork.
The fourth album, "Gorespattered Suicide", was recorded at
VRS Studios in Madrid, with Erik Rutan (CANNIBAL CORPSE, HATE ETERNAL,
ex-MORBID ANGEL) handling the mixing and mastering at his Mana Recording
Studios in Florida. Released in January 2005, it was followed by an
intense period of touring, including a Japanese tour in April, appearances
at major European festivals such as London Deathfest and Obscene Extreme,
and a 15-date European headlining tour across 11 countries alongside
Italian Grindcore band GRIMNESS 69.
In 2006, AVULSED released "Reanimations", featuring two new
songs, a reworking of a track from the band's first demo, covers of
W.A.S.P., GOREFEST and EXODUS, and contributions from eight bands covering
AVULSED songs. The album appeared through Xtreem Music and was subsequently
issued by Metal Age Productions. In September 2007, the band released
its first official DVD, "Reanimating Russia 2007", through
Coyote Records. Recorded in Moscow in June 2007 during AVULSED's second
Russian tour, it documented the band's growing international presence.
After years of relentless touring and festival appearances, including
shows in Mexico and Russia, as well as performances at Bringer of Death,
Neurotic Deathfest, Italia, Kaltenbach Open Air and Mountains of Death,
AVULSED turned its attention to its fifth full-length album. "Nullo
(The Pleasure of Self-Mutilation)" was recorded at Room 101 Studios
in Madrid between October 2008 and May 2009, with Javier Fernández
(THE HERETIC, NEXUS 6) co-producing alongside the band. Released in
June 2009, the album delivered some of the most aggressive, direct and
complete material of AVULSED's career, combining crushing heaviness,
brutality, intensity and memorable hooks. Artwork and design were handled
by Mike Hrubovcak (GRAVE, MONSTROSITY, MORTICIAN, CATTLE DECAPITATION).
The album was released simultaneously across several territories through
Xtreem Music, Metal Age Productions, Coyote Records, Ibex Moon Records,
American Line Productions and Sylphorium.
In 2011, AVULSED delivered acclaimed performances at prestigious festivals
including Maryland Deathfest in the USA, Way of Darkness in Germany,
Killtown Deathfest in Denmark and Altavoz in Colombia. However, 2012
brought a major lineup change when the band parted ways with drummer
Riky while working on new material. Just a month later, Osckar Bravo
joined the ranks, allowing the band to push forward and complete its
sixth album, "Ritual Zombi". Recorded during the first half
of 2013, it was released on September 1 in an unprecedented coordinated
worldwide campaign involving ten editions across CD, 12" vinyl,
cassette and digital formats, with nine different labels participating
internationally.
Following an intense tour in support of "Ritual Zombi", AVULSED
parted ways with Osckar Bravo in July 2014 and quickly recruited Erik
Raya. With him, the band continued touring and released the acclaimed
EP "Altar of Disembowelment" in September 2015, followed by
a full European tour alongside NATRON and PRION. In December 2015, Erik
was replaced by Arjan Van der Wijst, who immediately joined the band's
live activities.
During the spring of 2016, AVULSED recorded "Deathgeneration",
a double album celebrating the band's 25th anniversary. Released in
November 2016, it arrived during a busy period that included a tour
of China, numerous Spanish shows, major summer festivals across Spain
and Europe, and a European tour in April 2017. In the same month, the
band released "Night of the Living Deathgenerations", a 2CD+DVD
live album documenting a special 25th-anniversary concert held in Madrid
on November 19, 2016. A split 7" EP with MERCYLESS also appeared
that year.
Throughout 2017 and 2018, AVULSED continued its relentless live assault
across Spain, Europe and Mexico. In November 2018, drummer Arjan was
replaced by Rafael Aritmendi, who remained with the band until March
2020, when Jorge Utrera (HOLYCIDE) took over. Jorge participated in
the recording of the EP "Extraterrestrial Carnage", released
by Xtreem Music in June 2023. That same month, Santi Arroyo, better
known as "Gog" and also a member of HOLYCIDE, replaced Jorge
on drums as AVULSED began writing material for a new album. In January
2024, the band performed two shows aboard the 70,000 Tons of Metal cruise
and returned to the USA for Maryland Deathfest.
June 2024 marked the most dramatic lineup change in AVULSED's history,
when Juancar, Cabra and Tana all departed simultaneously due to a lack
of interest in continuing with the band, which had gone 12 years without
recording a new full-length album. This left Dave Rotten, the sole remaining
original member, and Santi "Gog" as the only members determined
to carry AVULSED forward. Within just five days, the band selected replacements
from a large pool of candidates, recruiting guitarist Alejandro Lobo
(KRUEGER, DISSONATH, ex-GILLMAN) and bassist Alex Nihil (SEPULCRATION,
PARSEC, UMBRAETERNUM). Victor Dws (ENDERNITY, NEUROMANCER) joined a
couple of months later.
With the new lineup in place, AVULSED immediately set about making up
for lost time and recording a new album. "Phoenix Cryptobiosis"
was released in March 2025 through Xtreem Music in all formats. In October
2025, Santi "Gog" was forced to leave the band for personal
reasons, and Victor Dws, who had already performed 13 shows with AVULSED
during 2025, including the Latin American and Mexican tours, took over
drumming duties. The band then moved forward with plans for a special
album to be recorded during the winter of 2025/2026, alongside preparations
for a new full-length album planned for 2027.
AVULSED LIVE: OVER THREE DECADES OF UNRELENTING
BRUTALITY
AVULSED has earned a fearsome reputation as one of the most intense,
aggressive and uncompromising live acts in Death Metal. With more than
700 performances worldwide under their belt, the band has completed
six full European tours, including runs alongside SINISTER in 1996 and
INCANTATION in 1997, followed by headlining tours in 2005, 2009, 2015
and 2017.
Their relentless touring history spans multiple continents, with performances
in Colombia, Venezuela, Mexico, Central America, the USA, Japan, Turkey,
Indonesia, China and Russia. Highlights include a 12-date Central American
headlining tour in 2000, a nine-date Mexican tour in 2006, further Mexican
dates in 2017, five Russian tours between 2006 and 2018, and a 12-show
Latin American tour in April 2025 covering Chile, Peru, Ecuador, Colombia,
Venezuela and Mexico. The band has also appeared at the 70,000 Tons
of Metal cruise and Maryland Deathfest in both 2011 and 2024, as well
as New Jersey Metal Meltdown in 2001.
AVULSED has also stormed the stages of some of Europe's most prestigious
festivals, including Hellfest, Obscene Extreme, Brutal Assault, Alcatraz,
Party.San, Resurrection Fest, Motocultor, Killtown Deathfest, Barroselas
Metalfest, Rock Machina, London Deathfest, Fuck the Commerce, Czech
Deathfest, Neurotic Deathfest, Kaltenbach Open Air, Leyendas del Rock,
Protzen Open Air, Stonehenge and Barbarian, among many others. Along
the way, the band has shared stages with countless artists, ranging
from IRON MAIDEN, SLAYER and OZZY OSBOURNE to NAPALM DEATH, CANNIBAL
CORPSE and SUFFOCATION, as well as countless underground acts.
After 35 years of uninterrupted dedication to the cause, AVULSED remains
a name synonymous with one thing: DEATH METAL. The story continues,
and the assault is far from over.
