BIOGRAPHY

Incantation began in August of 1989 as a collaboration between John McEntee, Ex-Revenant (guitarist) and Paul Ledney of Profanatica/Havohej. During their first year of existece, the Incantation line-up changed numerous time. However, during the late part of 1990 the following line up was established: John McEntee (Lead Guitar), Ronnie Deo (Bass), Jim Roe (Drums) and Craig Pillard (Guitar & Vocals).

Incantation performs back in the roots of death metal with a hint of grind and doom. They cleverly combine intense, heavy passages with fast-paced, catchy riffs, interjecting brutality to create Incantation's unique sound. The band has already established a reputation for unparalleled brutality with their studio quality live recording. Incantation are influenced by such legends as early Sodom, early Napalm Death, Necrovore, Hellhammer, Necrophagia (Ohio), Possessed and Sarcophago, but are artistically committed to creating their own single sound.

Incantation has released a four song demo, as well, as two highly succesful 7"EP singles through Relapse Records "Entrantment of Evil" and "Deliverance of Horrific Prophecies" with combined sales of these singles reaching nearly 10,000 copies worlwide, Relapse offered Incantationa multi-album recording contract. The band recorded their debut album "Onward to Golgotha" at little known TraxEast Studios in New Jersey. Incantation toured the United States with Entombed and Dead Horse, along with one with Autopsy, Vital Remains and Morgue, plus an east-coast tour with Pungent Stench and Brutal Thruth. In addition, Incantation have also appeared with other well known acts such as Cannibal Corpse, Immolation, Repulsion, Suffocation and Unleashed.

During December of 1992 came the departure of Ronnie Dea. In July of 1993 with the bew bassist Dan Kamp, Incantation entered Excello Studios in Brooklyn, New York to record a new track for Relapse Records. "Corporate Death Compilation" CD. Soon afterward, Jim Roe, left the band for personal reasons. Incantation did their first European Tour in April 1994 with Sinister and Dead Head. With help from Jim Roe filling in on drums, they returned to Excello Studios to record eight new tracks of pure blasphemy. Aided by engineer Garry Shippon (Brutal Thruth, Corrosion of Conformity) and produced by Brian Sekula and John McEntee in Cleveland, Ohio. Incantation brutally combines elements of death metal, into a venomous all out attack on christianity. This package of mockery is wrapped in the artwork of Hellraiser comig book artist Miran Kim, who also created the "Onward to Golgotha" art.

Soon after the release of "Mortal Throne of Nazarene", Incantation did a North American tour with Grave and Fear of God, Incantation toured constantly in support of Mortal Throne, including their first headlining tour of Mexico with Immolation and Acid Bath, along with a United States tour with Enslaved and Absu.

Incantation's new MCD entitled "The Forsaken Mourning of Angelic Anguish" was released in May'97 on Repulse Records. In addition to the MCD a live in the studio entitled "Tribute to the Goat" will be released in mid '98 on Elegy Records. Incantation's third full length studio album, entitled "Diabolical Conquest" is due out in August 97 on Visceral Productions. With their new line up, Incantation has proven to be true warriors of blasphemy. Incantation's line-up consists on: John McEntee (Guitars), Kyle Severn (Drums), Kevin Hughes (bass) and Craig Pillard (Session Vocalist) who sang on "Onward to Golgotha" and "Mortal Throne of Nazarene" albums. Incantation played numerous shows including a mini tour of the South and Midwest with A.C. and Mortician, and are working on worlwide tours in support of new releases.
