After this debut album, an exception was done in the career of the band with a re-mixes album ("Cybergore"-'98) where once again, the band proved that there's no boundaries in music and mixed extreme Techno with their traditional Death Metal guitar sound & vocals. This experiment didn't mean a change in the band's sound, but a point of variety which surely took the scene by surprise. In april '99 a colombian label offered the band to release all their demos and unreleased rare recordings on CD ("Seven Years Of Decay"-'99). However, the band continued working on new material for their long awaited 2nd album ("Stabwound Orgasm"-'99). For this work, AVULSED opted to record at Spacelab Studios located in Kempen (Germany) to secure a first-class production avoiding to sound like any other bands (just like it happens in Sweden) and sent the master to James Murphy in California to do the mastering at his own Sound Temple Studios in San Francisco. Having solved all sound matters, the only thing left was to choose an artist that fitted the new artistic concept of the band. Being tired of the typical drawings with monsters and guts, the band decided to go for a change and use both real images & computer effects to create what's their most shocking & impressive cover artwork. This album has doubles in sales to its predecessor and has been licensed in CD format with 2 bonus tracks by various labels in South-America (Sylphorium), USA/Canada (World War III) and Russia (IronD).
Regarding live performances, AVULSED has gained a strong reputation as one of the most aggressive & ferocious bands on stage. After more than 125 live appearances where the band has performed two full European Tours (w/SINISTER-'96 & w/INCANTATION-'97) and even crossed the Atlantic Ocean for three times to play 2 shows in Venezuela (Sept.'99), a 12 dates tour as headliner through central America (May'00) in countries like USA/California (2), Mexico (4), Guatemala (2), El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua & Costa Rica and to play on the 3rd Metal Meltdown Festival in USA/New Jersey (Apr.'01). The band has played with such bands as NAPALM DEATH, MANOWAR, CRADLE OF FILTH, VADER, CRYPTOPSY, DISGORGE (mex), SEPSISM, MAYHEM, AMORPHIS, OPETH, CATHEDRAL, PRIMAL FEAR, YATTERING, INFAMY, DETERIOROT, CENOTAPH, ANARCHUS, INCANTATION, MONSTROSITY, MORTICIAN, GORGUTS, DIABOLIC, DYING FETUS, GORGASM, FLOTSAM & JETSAM, DEEDS OF FLESH, DERANGED, SIX FEET UNDER, JESUS MARTYR, NILE, BLOOD, ADRAMELECH, KRISIUN, ENSLAVED, CENTINEX, FLESHGRIND, MALIGNANCY, PESSIMIST, CATASTROPHIC, GOD FORBID, PAIN, CRUCIBLE, ANASARCA, STRATUZ, ABORTED, PANDEMIA and tons of others. In summer 2000, the band got interest of various labels and it was finally italian AvantGarde Music the label for which the band signed a 2-album deal in january of the same year. The 3rd album is planned to be recorded after summer 2001, although nothing's concrete yet. With a big legion of fans all over the world, created during nearly 10 years, the band feels stronger than ever and with their album "Stabwound Orgasm" (which for sure will become a timeless Death Metal masterpiece), AVULSED is ready to become one of the leading bands of its genre. Since
its inception in january '92, AVULSED has always been synonym of Death
Metal. The band has been developing its musical style through various
demos ("Embalmed In Blood"-'92, "Deformed Beyond Belief"-'93
and "Promo'95") a 7"EP ("Carnivoracity"-'94)
which was later re-released as a mini CD ("Carnivoracity"-'95),
a split LP with Greek ACID DEATH ("Split LP"-'94) until they
recorded their debut album ("Eminence In Putrescence"-'96) where
the band showed its pure Death Metal sound mixing up both heavy &
brutal riffs with melodic parts.
In
January 2001, the band entered the studios again, this time with producer
Roberto Galán, known for his job as sound engineer of the biggest
alternative Metal band in Spain HAMLET (kind of spanish version of DEFTONES…),
to record 4 cover songs for different tribute albums. The bands/songs
are: MORBID ANGEL "Immortal Rites", CARCASS "Embryonic
Necropsy & Devourment", CANNIBAL CORPSE "Edible Autopsy"
and SODOM "Magic Dragon". Due to the big demand of the fans,
the band decided to do a very strictly self-produced limited edition of
a mini CD including these 4 covers plus a live recording of SEPULTURA's
"Inner Self". This MCD ("Bloodcovered"-'01) is a limited
to 500 copies available only through the band.
