As many people know, you share the same name with a Californian band and a Dutch band, how do you feel about this? Would you ever change your bands name?
We're never gonna change our name cause we are the real Disgorge from Mexico, and how do I feel about that? I don’t give a fuck.
Now that we got the past out of the way, what about the future - what does the future hold for Disgorge? New releases, news, members?
Well we have something to do for this final part of this year and also for the next one, actually we are composing more new stuff for forth coming releases as a 3 way split release with Exhumed, Regurgitate and us this to be released at the end of this year for Relapse Records, we're gonna include 2 new songs and a cover song also we have 4 more songs for the next album to be recorded in December this year.
Also, we are getting possibilities to make some other 7" splits and the most probable one is with Merzbow (you know what I am talking about man) and also for the Repulsion Tribute we hope to include one track, also man for the next year we hope finally to be in the US to make some dates there possibly a whole American tour and also we are scheduled for the next Fuck the Commerce fest in Germany next year, so we are kind of busy lately man.
About some other news we hope to release our third album for another label cause we have some kind of lack of communication with the guys of Repulse, also we're gonna make some dates here in Mexico for November and December promoting the Gorelics digipack for Sade Records, and also I have another things to do with my other band Ravager, and also with Demonized we have scheduled the release of the first album for the next year through Evil Vengeance Records. We are working on the songs right now and also I am making some stuff for the next year with some Cenotaph members this project is called Blood Reaping and so, we are kind of busy these days.
What is life like in Mexico? Is metal big down there? What about the scene, how is it down there?
Well man life in Mexico its pretty rough like anywhere you know, but as you know the economic situation isn’t very good , so you must get a job and that kind of shit but I guess we try to live in this shit hole and you know life is not easy for every body but well, metal here is kind of big man we have every weekend shows of international bands and regional bands; but you know the scene isn’t huge, there’s a lot of trendy people and fashion bands you know?
There’s only a few bands that deserve the global attention like: Anarchus, the Zephyr, Lust, Warcrusher, Prohibitory, Rottenness, Sargatanas, Paracoccidiodomicosis, Blood Reaping, Cenotaph, the Chasm, Tenebrarum and some others but these ones are some of the best . Man, and about labels, the biggest labels are Oz Productions, American Line Productions, Sade Records and there’s some other indie labels that are caring for the Mexican scene such as Vision D Records. And about zines and stuff, there’s a whole bunch of mags and zines out there, so I guess the Mexuican scene is still growing..
Do you have a lot of problems with crime and violence?
Man that shit is everywhere in the world, but yes, crime, violence, sex, drugs and Rock and Roll, Ha Ha! It fucking rules, we are filled with that kind of shit man, you know… Everybody I know, knows Mexico for a lot of violence and that’s true.
How have you live shows been so far? Where have you been? What's the craziest thing you've seen on tour? What about the funniest?
Man on every gig and every tour we have an strange or funny experience and even more, when you get out in the city to get drunk or stoned or get some babes to have fun or shit like that, but you know man I guess the funniest shit is when you are trying to get horny babes and then you notice that some of those horny babes are girls of some of the bands that we are playing with in the show!
Ha, but... well there’s a lot of shit around gigs that I never end to tell you man, and well about were we had played, we have toured Mexico like 5 times, we have also had 2 tours in Central America and also in this year last march and April we toured Europe with great success and I hope next year we could make some tours in the US.
If you had to describe Disgorge's musick, ideology and purpose in 1 short sentence, what would it be?
DISGORGING!
Ha, ha good choice. How do you feel Disgorge has "matured" or changed since your earlier material, and what about the transition on Forensick from Chronic Corpora Infest?
I guess the word mature isn’t the right word, the word that could fit well I guess is evolve cause you know man when we recorded Chronic Corpora Infest we felt that that album was pretty much our best work to that date but when we released Forensick I was fucking amazed about what we created, well you know we are not totally satisfied with the sound of the record man but you know the intention on Forensick is pretty nasty and sick, just the way we wanted it.
That was the main intention on that record, to sound fucking brutal and relentless, but I guess as we evolve with our ideas we are trying to get more focused on music patterns but always making sick and nasty music, cause you know man every person that says that "We are maturing as a band" then that band releases an album that its much more soft oriented music or you know they want make music that they can feel as a musicians that’s why I kind of hate that word, you know its inevitable mature as a person but if you want to make sick music the main objective always is gonna be to make sick music!
You must hear the new mCD split Goremassacre Perversity to know of what I am talking about, I guess our new stuff is kind the same way like Forensick but its pretty much more old death metal oriented, but always oozing purulentic vomit from it.
Yes, one thing I would also agree with is that every release you have done the brutality and extremity has only increased exponentially. Speaking of sound, do you or have you ever used vocal effects in Disgorge? Your voice and vocals are great, but to me it doesn't sound like you do use effects.
I had never used any kind of vocal effects, only once for the Regurgitate cover version for the tribute I had used the low pitch on it like those guys used but I have never used the pitch or any kind of effect to make my voice lower, and also I don’t put in the CD’s like other band do the shitty sentence "No vocal effects used" or shit like that cause I don’t like it, what you hear on the albums is that, my sole voice you know there’s some delays and flangers if you could say that that is an effect for the voice but only that as the guys of Flesh Feast would say FUCKIN HATE IS PURE!!
What, in simplistic terms, are you lyrics about? Could you give us brief translations of some lyrics? How do you come up with them?
All the concepts about the lyrics are Psycopathological gore much like Carcass did in the past but you know man we always want to put emotion into the lyrics, but man its hard that people don’t understand the meaning of the lyrics cause almost all of the lyrics are related with medical terms so its kind of hard but the newest songs we are composing are more… you know, understandable, some titles like Goremassacre Perversity, Sodomic Baptism, Excremential Lust, some stuff like that, and the meaning in all sense the lyrics treats only about fucking gore insanity to the top! Without boundaries or any moral shit! Sometimes incoherent but sick, you will read the new lyrics and you will know of what I am talking about.
I know a lot of your lyrics deal with morbid, gory topics... Do you think, if given the oppurtinity to get away with it, that you would kill someone?
I couldn’t kill someone cause if I did, I would get put in prison my entire life and I dont want to get prison, I want to make sick music, you know all the concept about Disgorge deals about that shit but its our most perverse feelings that we are showing within, but kiilling people its another thing, you know man I would fucking die pretty happy if I could kill at least all my entire neighborhood!
Fuck yeah, I hate them all but for fucking sure I will get in jail, cause I am so fucking recognizable, so man that would be stupid, the end of my life, you know what I am making here and its also my job its to make fuckin sick and heavy music but I will be fucking happy if I could kill people, you know man, that kind of shit is of the things that we always are dealing and think and think it over again and again so man we have to live with it so man its kind of preaching without practicing like testament you should say but we have to live in this shit society that the act to kill some one is punishable, you know its kind of frustrating but its always great when you create the feelings within the music or any kind of expression you like.
Have you ever faced any problems with censorship in Mexico?
In Mexico, never....
Mexico culture has a unique affair with death and the morbid, I have read books before and things that illustrate how it almost has an "obsession" with it, and there are even mainstream magazines about death and gore. Could you elaborate and explain this a bit for us?
About the cult to death in Mexico, that is very true, you know? We have some traditions here in Mexico that worships death and all that has to do with this, but these kind of traditions are getting lost by the pass of the years and decades cause the young people here in Mexico are like sheep man, you know? Straight to the slaughterhouse! Ha! Following trends without any kind of taste without their own sense, only following what the TV or radio gets in tune but you know there’s always the people that care about our past and roots and our history and we feel like the way we respect death because it’s the most real sense of logic in this world, born to die, that’s what it’s all about, and of course evil without boundaries!
And yes man here in Mexico, there’s a lot of magazines that deals about all kind of crimes here in Mexico like: rapes, assaults, killings, cannibalism cases and all kind of morbid facts that happen all around Mexico, you know man people want to see that, blood, terror, fear and also like the lot of peoples like me that enjoys to read and get these kinds of filth magazines.
What bands/movies/things have influence on Disgorge? Where do you get your inspiration?
Man, I had made a conclusion with these kind of questions, I could not name some of my favorite bands cause there are too much! I love all kinds of metal man: heavy, thrash, death, black, some subgenres of metal like grindcore, some hardcore bands and those bands are a lot but you know what always has got some really serious influence in Disgorge is always gonna be the mighty and filthy CARCASS and all kind of rancid death fuckin metal, and you know any visual kind of gory inspiration always rides on within our tastes like CNN special crime documentaries, snuff videos, porno (fucking rulz!), any kind of gory movie and shit like that but you know always the main influence is metal!
Thanks a lot for your time, Antimo. I will leave you the gore drenched floor. Keep the blood flowing!
Thanx for the interest and the interview, Don, and your patience for getting this one. Thanx a lot and I hope we could make the stuff of the split, that would be fuckin great! Thanks to all people that write and support us and also the ones who are reading this! Keep infesting!!!
