Avulsed - Reanimations 2006

Avulsed can be added in the list of big deathmetal bands who are around for along time, as all of you already know Avulsed has released a lot of full albums (covers + tracklists available on their section) However this is not a full length album but an album that got only 3 avulsed tacks and 3 covers of Exodus - Piranha and W.A.S.P - I want to be some body and one great track of the first Gorefest album Mental Misery. I'm not really into the cover tracks cause I always see that as a lack of inspiration, but who cares about my opinion about that. If you think that's all what's on the disk well forget it, a while ago we had a news item about Avulsed searching for bands to cover a track of Avulsed for this album. So track 7-15 are covers of Avulsed played by bands who you see listed in the tracklist below. Also there is a video clip that has been recorded in Paris 2005. First they wanted to make this album and double disk, one with only live tracks and one for the cover tracks but finally they came out with 1 disk. For the covers they have get them self all kinds of different styles of metal and yeah you can hear that if you listen to this Reanimations disk! All the bands have their own kind of style, not that they are all great but you will read that in the rest of this review.

Well lets start with the first 3 new once of Avulsed them self the MCD as we cal that hehe. The first song is "River Runs Red" and is a great sick track with awesome guitar parts with what I like the most the double bass and drum fills and of course the awesome low gutteral vocals from Dave Rotten. So for the first one with up and low-tempo parts is this a great track. Second one called "Foetal Consolation", that's start directly with a fast blast beat and an awesome guitar riff. Well guys and girls the first 3 new tracks of Avulsed are as we already expected are fucking good, just the way I like to hear and I know all you deathmetal freaks will love these first 3 tracks. Alright then lets start with the covers of Avulsed and I begin with the Exodus cover "Piranha", hell yeah oldschool thrashmetal in a deathmetal coat. I always loved this album of Exodus and Avulsed took of the best fucking track.  As for the thrash freaks who know this song only from Exodus them self, try this for a change cause I'm sure you like this ! Hmmm W.A.S.P. never was a big fan of this glam rock band so I don't have not much to say about this one only that this sounds much better then the original. The 3rd is the Gorefests Mental Misery track. When this fucking album came out it didn't leave my cdplayer for a couple of months. Awesome track that brings back the good memories in my fucking head.

Ok then we begin with the bands who all played of early Avulsed albums, the first one is from "Terroristars" this band contains the ex guitar player of Avulsed "Funri". These guys are playing "Powered Flesh" I'm not really imprested by this first band so skip and go to the next one of "In Eliment". Well this sounds ok but not really impressed again cause the brutality is gone out of this great track "Devourer Of The Dead", it got to much newer metal style in it then the original oldschool track. Alrighty then something more brutal, Carnavage with their cover "Stabwound Orgasm" a wall of brutality is coming of these guys. Finally a band who really know how to play a sick mutilated track of deathmetal gods Avulsed. Great addition for this disk with a heavy brutal production and gutteral vocals. Witches' Sabbath are doing "Blessed By Gore", for all the sicko's out there is "Witches' Sabbath" not a new name and is also a great band who doesn't fuckup the brutality of a track like the first two bands did. Well it getting better and better hehe. The next track is done by "Flesh Embraced" with their version of "Gorespattered Suicide" Hell yeah motherfuckers awesome done guys, just the way like Avulsed play that great song with allot of brutality and speed. Hmmm I skip the next track of "Kaothic" with their heavymetal addition of the brutal track "Sweet Lobotomy", to sweet for me guys! Alrighty, here we have Byleth with "Protervia" who are playing this track also as it should be with no nonsense deathmetal with some own influence. Great shit!!! For track number 14 they have added "Abyfs" with "Sick Sick Sex" hmm ok a woman on the background with gothic vocals, but not for long cause the deathmetal vocals are taking over damn quick, also a great cover track for this album. HUH???? what the fuck is this??? The last track is complete bullshit, this is a drum and bass/house version of Stabwound Orgasm. This got nothing to do with deathmetal or even metal at all and will not listen to this stuff, kind of weird that this kind of shit has been added on this quite awesome disk.

Well this is quite an awesome album except a few bands who are trying to cover an Avulsed track their own way. So for the 3 tracks of them self I give a 8 and for the others a 6, cause there are some bands on this disk that I would not have added myself on this disk especially the house track!! This is a nice collectors item for the freaks and is also a nice change to hear some unknown bands. A big compliment for Dave Rotten and his crew too. This cd gives underground bands the chance to set their name on a disk together with the a big name: Avulsed!
